You have edited your common app essay…for the tenth time. You have spent hours writing last minute to-do lists crossing off items while undoubtedly adding more. Your “why us” essay is on point. You have asked more “quick questions” in the past month than ever before.
You are applying Early.
And while you might be second-guessing basically everything, remember this. Adding one more line or word change to your essay will not be the deciding admissions factor. Asking one more person for advice at the twelfth hour will not provide you with the magic piece of information you have been waiting to hear.
Give yourself more treats than tricks this Halloween. Hit submit. Own it. Feel confident in ALL that you have accomplished over the past four years. Feel confident that you are just getting started. Because the truth is you are on the cusp of an incredible journey filled with experiences you can’t even begin to predict. Hit submit…then smile. Because you did it!
Major Disclaimer: If you’re not applying Early it is OKAY. I repeat. It is OKAY. Presenting a strong application is unique to each student. If you are waiting for strong first semester grades, more SAT/ACT exams and you are still molding the perfect application, have peace in applying regular decision. And don’t panic when your friends start posting that they have completed their applications. The truth is we are all in this mess together. No one has it together. Promise.
